Mission and Areas of Interest
The Brook J. Lenfest Foundation is a charitable foundation established by Brook J. Lenfest in 2000. It is dedicated to making people aware of positive life choices and providing support and opportunities for those motivated to pursue them. In keeping with its mission, the Foundation will focus mainly on education, job training, mentoring programs, wellness based healthcare and the arts.
Core Programs
The Brook J. Lenfest Foundation has committed a significant portion of its resources to three core program activities:
- Support for Mastery Charter Schools: Mastery Charter Schools' mission is: All students learn the academic and personal skills they need to succeed in higher education, compete in the global economy, and pursue their dreams. - The Brook J. Lenfest Scholarship Program: This college scholarship program is operated by
Penn State University and Temple University in cooperation with Mastery Charter Schools, Philadelphia Futures and White-Williams Scholars. Additional information is available on the Scholarship Page.
- The Brook J. Lenfest Foundation has established The Dawn K. Lenfest Scholarship Program at the Sherman College of Straight Chiropractic in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The program for students with significant financial need is operated by Sherman College.
Area of Operation
The Brook J. Lenfest Foundation primarily supports programs and organizations operating in urban areas of Southeastern and South Central Pennsylvania (including Harrisburg), Southern New Jersey and Northern Delaware, with a particular interest in Philadelphia.
